National Instruments USB-6008 Multifunction I/O Device
The NI USB-6008 (Part Numbers: 779051-01, 779320-22, 779718-01, 191039-02, 193132-02) is a Bus-Powered Multifunction I/O Device. There are eight single-ended or four differential USB 6008 analog input channels, two USB 6008 analog output channels, and 12 digital input/output channels. The analog output channels can generate software timed outputs from 0 Volts to 5 Volts. Moreover, it also has a 32-bit integrated counter with a full-speed USB (universal serial bus) interface. Part number 779320-22 represents the USB-6008 kit for the Labview Student Edition for Windows. Part numbers 779718-01 and 193132-02 both represent the OEM board only kit of the USB-6008, but part number 193132-02 has no enclosure and part number 779718-01 comes in a quantity of 10. Finally, part number 191039-02 is for the hardware only version of the USB-6008.
The National Instruments USB-6008 Multifunction I/O Device offers 10 kS/s sample rate while operating with a single channel or multiple channels. The USB-6008 Multifunction I/O Device features a USB connector, an LED, and two screw terminal connector plugs. The screw terminal connector plugs are provided for I/O, while the USB connector is provided for a full-speed USB interface. The green LED indicates device status. The eight analog inputs can be utilized for eight single-ended (SE) or four differential analog input measurements. For the conversion of analog signals to digital signals, the NI USB-6008 Multifunction I/O Device comes equipped with one analog-to-digital converter.
A PGA (programmable gain amplifier) is also incorporated in the NI USB 6008 that provides appropriate input gains while the unit is configured to operate for differential measurements. The PGA gain is calculated automatically by the selected voltage range.
The USB 6008 National Instruments can perform both multiple and single analog-to-digital conversions of an infinite or fixed number of samples. A FIFO buffer keeps the data held during acquisitions through analog inputs to ensure that no samples are lost.
The USB 6008 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages or application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Measurement Studio, or LabVIEW SignalExpress.
The NI device weighs 3 oz, and measures 3.22 x 3.35 x 0.91 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 °C to 55 °C and -40 °C to 85 °C respectively, a non-condensing relative humidity range of 5% to 95% and 5% to 90% respectively.
